As we see, a component of the radiation, which is passing through a diaphragm, is much
less than that transferred by means of total external reflection from the walls.
Transmission factor Tr for 10 mm length, from our experimental data, can be taken as
Tr = 0.7. Therefore Wout = WinTr = 1.8 × 107 × 0.7 = 1.26 × 107 photons/s, and the
density of radiation flux, for example, at a distance of 1 mm from the end face of polycapillary
structure (diameter of a beam – 25 microns) will be 1.26 × 107 photons/s/
(π (12.5 μm)2) ≈ 2.57 × 104 photons/s/μm2 = 2.57 × 1010 photon/s/mm2.
